Asst. Prof. Dr. Eric R. Labelle receives appointment at Université Laval

Asst. Prof. Dr. Eric R. Labelle, head of the Asst. Professorship of Forest Operations since 2014, has been appointed Professor in digital forest operations at Université Laval in Québec, Canada. He will commence his new position in November and will thus leave TUM by the end of October.

In retrospect of five years at TUM and likewise with an outlook to the future he states:

For the past five years, I have been the Head of Forest Operations at the Technical University of Munich. During this time, the team has performed admirably and the accomplishments in the spheres of research and teaching have been impressive. We have created a niche in eco-efficient and financially feasible forest operations while forging vibrant partnerships in Academia as well as in governmental and private sectors. Keeping a close-eye on actual forest operations to observe on-going issues and challenges allowed the team to be proactive in providing technical and scientific solutions. I want to acknowledge everyone that contributed to the success of forest operations. In the next month, my time at TUM will come to an end as I have recently accepted a Professorship in digital forest operations at the Université Laval in Canada. My passion for eco-efficient forest operations will continue but on the other side of the Atlantic! I look forward to continuing my collaborations with TUM and other partnerships formed over the years.
